CCTV & Security Systems

Security systems designed for your site, not sold from a box

A packaged four-camera kit is cheap because nobody has thought about your property. Cameras end up in the wrong places, pointed into the sun, with a recorder that overwrites the footage before you know you needed it. When something does happen, the footage is useless.

We start by walking the site and identifying the actual approach points — the gate, the roller door, the side path, the register, the loading dock. Cameras get positioned to capture faces and plates at those points rather than wide panoramas of an empty car park, and we specify resolution and storage retention that suits how quickly you are likely to notice an incident.

Because we are electricians, the cabling is done properly: correct cable, tidy routes, sensible power, and no adhesive mounts falling off a wall in February. Alarm systems, access control and intercoms are installed the same way, and everything is commissioned, tested and demonstrated before we leave.

For commercial sites this pairs naturally with planned electrical maintenance — one contractor who already knows your building and holds your compliance register.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about cctv & security systems

How many cameras do I actually need?

Fewer than most kits include, positioned better. What matters is covering the real entry points at a resolution that identifies a person, rather than blanketing the property with wide shots. On a typical home that is often three or four well-placed cameras.

Can I view the cameras on my phone?

Yes. Every system we install includes remote viewing, and we set it up and show you how to use it before we leave — including how to export footage if you ever need to hand it to police or an insurer.

How long is footage kept?

That is a design decision based on storage and camera count. We usually aim for at least two to four weeks so a weekend away or a slow-to-notice incident is still covered. Tell us your preference and we size the recorder for it.

Do I need an alarm as well as cameras?

They do different jobs. Cameras record what happened; an alarm interrupts it while it is happening. Many customers start with cameras and add an alarm later — we install the cabling so that upgrade is straightforward.

Will the cameras work at night?

Yes, with infrared or low-light capability. Positioning and lighting matter more than the spec sheet, though — a camera aimed at a bright security light will produce a silhouette, which is why we plan the lighting and the cameras together.

Do you install systems in commercial premises?

Regularly — retail, hospitality, warehouses and offices. Commercial sites usually need more thought about privacy, staff areas and who can access footage, and we work through that with you at the design stage.

Can you repair or expand a system someone else installed?

Usually. We will assess what is there, tell you honestly whether it is worth extending or better replaced, and quote both options if it is a close call.

Is data cabling done to standard?

Yes. We hold CommScope SYSTIMAX and AFL fibre certifications, so structured cabling is installed and terminated to manufacturer standard rather than crimped and hoped for.
