Retail & Hospitality Electrical

Electrical work that never costs you a trading day

A closed shop is a shop that earns nothing. That is the whole reason retail and hospitality work is different: the job has to fit around trade, not the other way around. Early mornings, evenings, Sundays and public holidays are normal working times for us, and we price them into the fixed quote rather than surprising you with a loading on the invoice.

Fit-outs are our bread and butter here — new tenancies, refurbishments and make-good on the way out. Lighting design that makes stock look the way it should, power where the equipment actually ends up, data and EFTPOS cabling done to standard, illuminated signage, and the coordination with your shopfitter and centre management that keeps the programme moving.

Hospitality adds its own demands: three-phase for commercial kitchens, dedicated circuits for cool rooms and display fridges, extraction interlocks, and lighting that works for both a lunch service and a Friday night. Get us involved before the plans are final and we will tell you what will not work while it is still cheap to change.

Once you are trading, we keep you compliant with test and tag, RCD testing and exit and emergency lighting on a schedule — and answer the phone when the cool room trips at 6am.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about retail & hospitality electrical

Can you work outside our trading hours?

Yes, and for retail and hospitality it is usually the default. Early mornings, evenings, Sundays and public holidays are all normal for us. Those hours go into the fixed quote up front so there is no penalty rate surprise later.

How quickly can you respond if a cool room or fridge trips?

Fast — refrigeration faults are treated as emergencies because stock is on the line. Call 1300 012 801 rather than using the form. Maintenance customers go to the front of the queue. See emergency electrician.

Do you work with shopfitters and centre management?

Constantly. We work to the shopfitter's programme, handle centre induction requirements, provide SWMS and certificates of currency, and coordinate with the other trades so nobody is standing around waiting.

Can you handle commercial kitchen electrical?

Yes — three-phase supply, dedicated circuits for each piece of equipment, extraction and interlock wiring, and cool room power. Get us in before the kitchen layout is locked and we will flag problems while they are still cheap to fix.

What compliance do we legally need in a venue?

As a minimum: RCD protection with documented testing, test and tag on portable appliances, and exit and emergency lighting discharge-tested every six months with a logbook on site. We put all of it on one schedule.

Do you do the signage as well as the internal work?

We do. Shopfront and pylon signage installation and maintenance, including work at height with an elevated work platform where the sign needs it.

How do you price a fit-out?

From the drawings and a site visit, as an itemised fixed price. If the plans change during the job we quote the variation before doing it — you will never find extra work on the final invoice that you did not agree to.

Can you help before we sign the lease?

Yes, and it is worth doing. A quick look at the tenancy's existing supply, board capacity and condition tells you whether the electrical fit-out will cost what you assumed — which is useful leverage in a lease negotiation.
